After An Endometriosis Diagnosis, This Woman Had Quadruplets - Ashley Gardner Miracle Babies True Story

pregnancy after infertility, endometriosis, woman has quadruplets

Like most women, Ashley Gardner had always dreamt of being a mother. Of carrying her babies in her arms. Of raising her own. But this was supposedly not to be. She had endometriosis.

Endometriosis is not good news for any woman of a child-bearing age. It was certainly not for this Utah resident who had always dreamt of having a baby. And this is because with this type of female reproductive condition, the chances of having a healthy baby usually plummet to almost zero. Here is why:

Endometriosis as a condition affecting the female reproductive system

Endometriosis is a condition that causes the cells of the lining of the uterus to grow on other parts of the reproductive system. When this happens, tissues start forming where they shouldn’t. This usually affects a woman's chances of not only conceiving, but also of carrying the pregnancy to its full term.

Endometriosis and the chances of getting pregnant

Endometrial tissues can form an unnecessary layer of tissues on the surface of the uterus and thus interfering with implantation. They can form in a woman’s fallopian tube, making it difficult for her eggs to travel to the uterus. They can also form on the ovaries, something that can lead to the formation of ovarian cysts that are commonly referred to as chocolate cysts or endometrioid cysts. The formation of such cysts is usually a guarantee of hormonal imbalance in  a woman. And in case the cysts burst, it can lead to serious complications that may call for the removal of a woman’s uterus.

So when Ashley Gardner received the news of her endometriosis complication, it was devastating. Her chances of ever becoming a mother were almost nil. And all it seemed was that she had been condemned to a lifetime of infertility.

Hope and the eight-year long journey trying to get pregnant

But she had hope. Her husband had hope, too. And so they decided to try something that might actually help them beat the obstacles that endometriosis presented in their life.

The endometriosis diagnosis sent them on a campaign. An eight year campaign to help boost their chances of having kids. They tried a lot of things. It didn't work. And then they tried fertility treatments. They simply persisted in their hope of having a family. And they documented it all. Every moment of their battle against the infertility-inducing disease -endometriosis - is documented in their YouTube Channel.

The pregnancy that came even after an endometriosis diagnosis

And when the news came that she had gotten pregnant not only with one, not two, not three, but four babies, her husband was there to document the moment. He took a picture that immediately went viral.

On December 29th, they welcomed the new arrivals to their family.

"Mom and babies are doing incredible!!!" the family wrote on its Facebook account, A Miracle Unfolding -- Gardner Quadruplets. "We are so happy with how everything turned out today! The doctors, nurses, and staff were incredible!! More updates to follow soon!!"

It is a miracle pregnancy and a miracle family

Here is what the statistics show: the chances of this happening to a normal healthy person is one in 70 million. For someone whose chances of giving birth were almost zero because of endometriosis, getting two sets of identical twins is nothing short of a miracle.

When It Comes To Ovarian Cyst Symptoms, Internet Research Is A Dark Bad Pool

ovarian cyst symptoms worried woman

You have a few symptoms. Abdominal pains. Maybe you find yourself with a little bit of bloating and the once in a while nausea. All these are common symptoms of ovarian cysts. But if you go to the internet to find out what exactly you may be suffering from, you may be in for a rude shock!

Something that first comes to mind

The first thing that will come to your mind when you go through the catalogue of diseases that “internet experts’ may be suggesting that you are suffering from, is pregnancy. That’s not a disease, it’s a condition. And it will be bad or good news depending on whether you want a baby or not; whether your head tells you that the father-to-be is a good gene pool or not; or some unknown reason only known to you.

If you are nowhere near the zone of wanting a lifetime baby commitment on your hands, that’s the first blood pool that the internet has drawn.

If a baby is something that you really want, you ducked the first blow. But you are not yet in the clear.

Not yet in the clear

You have nausea and a few other signs that show that you are pregnant. Great! But what about the pain. The last time you heard, pregnancies don’t always come with a load of pain. If you are naïve enough to go to turn to Google, you’ve taken the bait.

Welcome to the sea of internet inspired worry.

A blitz of hard-to-pronounce serious medical conditions

Ever heard of the term preeclampsia. If you haven’t/hadn’t, don’t worry, you are not alone. It is however something that you might have run into if you happened to suffer from the common ovarian cyst symptoms of nausea and pelvic pain. Remember, simple nausea and a little bit of pelvic or abdominal pain.

Now what is preeclampsia? It’s a disease with a complicated name that can lead to serious complications. Some added side-effects of this complication include high blood pressure, changes in your blood vessels that can lead to swelling of your face, feet and ankles. It affects your vision and comes with the risks of permanently destroying your kidney and liver.

And preeclampsia is not alone. There is a host of serious and potentially fatal diseases/conditions that  the “internet experts” want you to worry about. Placental abruption, miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy and a host of life-threatening diseases.

And once you go through the list, the only question that you ask yourself is: Am I going to die?

It’s just ovarian cysts

Nausea and abdominal pain. That’s all this journey started with. Simple , common and often non-threatening symptoms of ovarian cysts. But if you turn to the internet for medical advice, you are bound to end up with more questions, more worries and more nightmares that are unnecessary.

If you are having nausea and you think that you might be pregnant, go take a pregnancy test. If you are not feeling so great in your abdomen, go see your physician. There is absolutely no need to go jump into the bad dark pool of “internet expert advice”. You have done nothing wrong to deserve this torture.

Simply pick a phone and call. Don’t Google. And if you do, don’t click. It’s a bad idea. It’s bad for you.

And if you are wondering…

Ovarian cysts are common. Very common. And yes, most times, you don’t need to do anything about them( cases like these: 5 Shocking And Extreme Cases Of Large Ovarian Cysts are very very rare). Cystic growths usually disappear on their own. And in case you experience any symptoms, simply pay a visit to your doctor. Have a check-up.

Abdominal Pain, Ovarian Cysts, And Divorce: The True Story Real Life Connection

ovarian cysts, infertility, surgery

It is rare to get divorced because of abdominal pain. It isn’t even a cause for divorce in most countries. However, according to Yahoo News, one Saudi woman was an exception. A visit to the doctor ended up causing her husband to divorce her. And if you are thinking that it us one of those cases of extreme injustices to women, it isn’t. Here is how it happened.

Al-Einezi was 27 years old. She had a husband and a daughter. Abdominal pains were nothing unusual for her. She was a woman and the pain kind of came with the territory. But when the pain persisted, she decided to visit the doctor. Just one of those is-it-really-normal checks.

On arrival at Hail General Hospital, she was admitted with the doctor’s diagnosis being that she was suffering from ovarian cysts. It was common, the doctor told her. But her case was serious, he said. And so he recommended a small surgical procedure.

Three days later, after the small procedure that the doctor had recommended, Al-Einezi started suffering from extreme abdominal pains. So, she went back to the hospital. And that is when the she learnt that the doctor had removed not just one, but two of her ovaries. It was utter shock for the 27 year old.

"I broke down when he broke the news to me. When my husband learned about it, he immediately divorced me," Al-Eneizi said.

So, what was the doctor’s excuse? Aging of all things! He said that the existence of the ovarian cysts would have disrupted her hormonal balance and caused premature aging. If you are thinking that that is a stupid excuse, it is. And even if it were valid, as an investigation later revealed, her ovarian cyst problem could have been solved by simply removing one of her ovaries.

Thanks to one incompetent doctor. And thanks to medical professionals who think that surgery is a solution to every ovarian cyst symptom, a woman’s life was turned upside down.

A medical commission found the doctor to have been on the wrong. And although the decision was made in her favor, the compensation that she received was not even close to the pain and suffering that she ended up suffering. Her marriage was over. Her hopes for more children dashed. And as if that was not enough, she had to give up her right to alimony, just so that she could have custody of her daughter.

It is sad. A simple case of ovarian cysts that might have been cured by natural methods, caused a woman to be infertileAnd what makes it even sadder is the fact that the silly doctor has appealed the decision of the Commission. What an imbecile!
