Dermoid
ovarian cysts are a type of cysts on ovaries that develop in a woman during her
reproductive years. Just as the name suggests, they usually form in a woman’s
ovaries.
Dermoid cysts
are usually different from other types of cysts mainly because of the cells
from which they develop. This difference in the nature of the cells usually
results in such cysts having materials that other types of ovarian cysts wouldn't normally have. It is not unusual for one to have ones which have fully mature
skin, strands or clumps of long hair, bone tissue, thyroid tissue and sometime
even teeth. They may also be filled with fat, a colorless liquid or blood.
Dermoid cyst-on-ovary
symptoms are almost similar to the common symptoms of ovarian cysts. These
symptoms include having a bloated stomach, pain in the lower abdomen region,
pelvic pain, an increase in the frequency with which one urinates, abnormal bleeding
such as bleeding between periods. Most of the symptoms usually occur when they
become large cysts.
Complications
may also result especially where the cysts become large in size. There are
cases where the ovarian cyst rupture occurs, a condition that usually results
in sharp pains and sometimes even bleeding. Twisting of the ovaries may also be
caused by dermoid ovarian cysts. Torsion and bleeding of the cysts on ovaries
may also make a woman’s reproductive system to be susceptible to infections,
something which sometimes usually proves fatal.
Natural
remedies of treating this type of cysts exist. These remedies are usually
effective especially when the common complications have not yet developed. This
is so because most natural treatments of ovarian cysts usually work by
preventing the growth of the cysts or reducing irritation. As a result, when
detected early, dermoid ovarian cysts can be effectively managed and treated.
Extreme cases
usually call for surgery. This can be done through the conventional open
surgery or through a laparoscopy. Since a laparoscopy usually has lesser risks,
by virtue of the fact that only a small incision is made on a woman’s abdomen,
it is usually the preferred method of surgery. However, it is generally usually
advisable that a woman should try all natural treatments of ovarian cysts
before resorting to any form of surgery. This is so because of the risks that a
woman is usually exposed to when undergoing normal surgical procedures.
