There are many types of ovarian cysts that women around the
world have. Of all of these, dermoid
ovarian cysts are the ones that usually get most women worried. While the
symptoms of this type of cysts are the same as those of other types of cysts on
ovaries, their characteristics usually vary.
Given the nature of the cells from which these cysts are
usually formed from, it is common for them to have layers of mature skin. There
are also cases where the skin that is found inside the dermoid cysts have sweat
glands and hair follicles.
It is also not surprising to find cases where women who have
this form of cysts find strands of long hair, cartilage and sometimes even
pieces of bone tissue. Dermoid ovarian cysts may also have different forms of
fluids in them. Traces of colorless fluid, blood and sebum may be found in
these types of cysts.
Some women have also been reported to have dermoid cysts
that contain nails, teeth, fat tissues and in some cases even thyroid tissues.
While this type of ovarian cyst may cause a lot of
discomfort, especially when they become large cysts, they are usually rarely
malignant. This is so mainly because of the fact that they are usually made up
of mature cells which are less likely to be malignant.
This does not however mean that dermoid ovarian cysts cannot
be malignant. There are cases where they develop cancerous cells, a situation
that usually calls for immediate medical attention. This is so because in most
cases where cancerous tissues are involved, the only way to be sure that one
has a shot at getting better is to detect the presence of the cancerous tissues
as early as possible.
Bloating of the abdomen, pelvic pain, increase in frequency
of urination and other common symptoms of ovarian cysts may be a sign that a
woman has dermoid cysts.
When it comes to treatment of dermoid cysts on ovaries,
there are both natural and “non-natural” methods of treating them. Eating a
well balanced diet and leading a healthy lifestyle may well go a long way win
helping you to reduce the irritation of the cysts.
Natural methods of
eliminating cysts on ovaries may also be effective in eliminating ovarian
cysts. The y however have limitation and there are cases where only surgical
procedures can help you to get rid of dermoid ovarian cysts.
