Infertility: Ovarian Cysts And Trying To Get Pregnant

Normally, ovarian cysts usually have no effect on a woman's ability to get pregnant. In fact, despite the fact that most women have cysts in their ovaries, very few of them usually are aware of their presence. This is because in most cases, the cysts usually shrink and disappear on their own without causing any symptoms.

However, this does not mean that cysts on ovaries are always harmless. There are instances where cysts cause permanent infertility in women and thus totally frustrating their efforts to get pregnant.

While small cysts on ovaries usually have no effect on a woman's ability to get pregnant, large cysts usually do. This is so especially when the cysts grow to such an extent that they cause the twisting of the ovaries. This is a condition which is usually called ovarian torsion.

When this happens, the twisting can cause the blood vessels that supply blood to the ovaries to constrict. This usually leads to an insufficient supply of blood and nutrients to the ovaries and in some cases a total lack of supply of essential nutrients and oxygen. This usually results in the death of ovarian tissues, something which might lead to infertility. If both ovaries are affected by twisted ovarian cysts, then the woman may become permanently infertile.

However, if only one ovary is affected, the woman may still be able to get pregnant because the other ovary can always release the eggs.

An ovarian cyst rupture may also cause pregnancy complications. The rupture of a cyst on ovary may affect the ovary and in some cases, it may cause the ovary to be completely damaged. If the rupturing of an ovarian cyst causes damage to the ovary, this may mean that the woman will have problems getting pregnant. This does not however mean that every time a cyst bursts, the ovaries are usually damaged. This only happens in rare cases especially where the cyst that bursts is of a significant size.

The rupturing of an endometriod cyst can also lead to complications that may result in difficulties when it comes to pregnancy. This usually happens when the contents spill to other parts of the woman's reproductive system.

This usually results in the scarring of the womb, something which may not only prevent conception, but which may also make it hard for the implantation of the fertilized egg to take place. The spilling of the contents of a cyst after an ovarian cyst rupture may also cause infections which may also cause complications which may make it hard for a woman to get pregnant.
