Peritonitis
Peritonitis is a common complication of a ruptured ovarian cyst. This is a serious complication of the bursting of a cyst that any woman should not ignore. This is because ignoring it could lead to permanent negative effects on a woman's health. This condition is usually characterized by the inflammation of the mucous membrane of the abdominal cavity and the organs that are in or next to it. It usually arises due to an infection.
Infections

Without the release of the egg, there can be no pregnancy since fertilization of the egg is necessary for a woman to get pregnant. Chronic pelvic pain syndrome
While pain from ovarian cysts is not uncommon in women with cysts in their reproductive systems, the rupturing of a cyst is likely to cause a lot of pain. In the long run, a woman whose cysts rupture may suffer from chronic pelvic pain syndrome, especially when treatment of the cysts on ovaries is delayed.
Death
It is however important to note that although the above complications are very serious and can sometimes lead to death, they are not common.
