She
was only 31 and yet doctors were telling her that the only way out of her
condition was getting rid of her last remaining ovary. The news was grounded in
facts - an ultrasound had revealed that she had a large cyst in her ovary.
Despite
the dangers of a cyst rupture and the risks of blood poisoning as a result,
Mrs. Muukua was not willing to let go of her chance to have a baby. Therefore,
against the advice of doctors, she refused to have surgery and instead chose to
try for a baby.
Weeks
later, she got pregnant with her son Michael. And as she says, he is literally
a miracle to the family.
“At the
time, all the odds were against him being here but he still he made into the
world.”
‘‘I had next
to zero hormones, one ovary, internal scar tissue, damage to my bowel and
bladder and still managed to somehow fall pregnant. It was against all the
odds.”
She
admits that it wasn’t easy keeping up the faith – against all medical odds. She
had even started looking for adoption options.
Her
story however was meant to have a happy ending. And the ending was a happy one.
